Voici quelques exemples de circuits en VTT que je vous propose

Cycling and mountain biking are very pleasant ways to get around and discover natural areas, admire the landscapes on the shores of the Patagonian lakes in Argentina for example.

Of course, some areas are more suitable for this activity than others, where the terrain is more arid or more mountainous. The possibilities are numerous, from a sporty excursion to a relaxing bike ride. Here are some examples of mountain bike tours that I suggest, knowing that many others are possible and in other regions than those presented below.

The wild coasts of Patagonia

Peninsula Valdes by mountain bike

Peninsula Valdes by mountain bike

From Port Pyramids “Puerto Pirámides”, in the heart of the Peninsula Valdes, begins an adventure through unique landscapes and off the beaten track. A mountain bike route suitable for all levels, which passes through giant dunes, among which you can walk at the foot of steep cliffs. Then, you can follow the sea while observing the right whales, if you are there during the season that goes from June to December.

We’ll also observe groups of guanacos, and if the weather permits, we’ll pass by an estancia to meet the locals who will always have a little story to tell. It will therefore be an original way to discover the Peninsula Valdes, far from the tourists and with a super nice guide!

Downhill mountain biking with panoramic views

Thanks to the Cerro Catedral cable car, in San Carlos de Bariloche, you’ll be taken almost to the top of the mountain where you’ll have a superb view of the Nahuel Huapi lake. There’s also the possibility of going up by bike of course, for the bravest…

The route lasts more than 2 hours of pure downhill mountain biking; 1 day in total with round-trip transport. Sporty downhill and thrills guaranteed!!!

Between volcanoes and canyons of Patagonia by mountain bike

It’s a journey through time that I propose to you, in the heart of a 40 million year old volcano, which was active for nearly 10 million years. More than 25 km in diameter, nearly 50,000 hectares, where rocks, mountains, canyons, caves, cave paintings, fossilized trees, are there to bear witness to all this past.

By mountain bike, you can discover the famous Piedra Parada and the 6 km long canyon of the Buitrera “Cañadón de la Buitrera”. On another day, you can reach El Saltillo where, in the middle of summer, a swim will be welcome. Finally, another day to reach the canyon of Los Loros and the Paso del Sapo where the cliffs are impressive.

El Bolsón, in Valle del Manso, by mountain bike

25 km route in the sumptuous Manso Valley “Valle del Manso”, about 1h30 drive south of Bariloche. Very wild and varied mountain bike route, where we follow the superb Manso River “Río Manso”.

The great attraction of this excursion is that we stop at the homes of the few inhabitants of the area, very picturesque, and have a Maté with them, chat with them and taste some locally made artisanal products. No tourists here. This tour is very varied, with magnificent landscapes and meals in a sumptuous setting at midday. Unforgettable!!!

To complete this mountain bike tour, it takes about 8 hours. It is also possible to do this route by trekking with an overnight stay in a camp and go rafting the next day.

The Arrayanes forest by mountain bike

Round trip of 26 km to Villa la Angostura, north of Bariloche, in the province of Neuquén. Magnificent bike ride that takes us to the formidable forest of giant trees that are the Arrayanes. Unique in the world, with specimens over 15 meters high some of which are over 600 years old. And we have the great privilege of walking there without the tourists who come here by boat…

The round trip takes about 4 hours, but you should allow an extra hour for a walk through the Arrayanes forest “Bosque de Arrayanes” in the Los Arrayanes National Park.
