Flight over Argentina and Chile: The Iguazu Falls, Patagonia, the Atacama, the Andes seen from the sky… by helicopter, hot air balloon or small plane, it’s entirely possible.
From a simple flight of a few minutes, to a crossing of several hours, there are numerous options at varying prices, from simple beginners, for an unforgettable first flight, to experienced amateurs. The emotion will be there, because the discovery of these landscapes and these reliefs takes on a whole new dimension when seen from the sky. Here are some examples of flight over that I offer you, knowing that many others are possible and in regions other than those presented below.
Flying over the Atacama
The Atacama Desert by hot air balloon
The most beautiful landscapes in the world can be contemplated from the sky, gently, without noise and taking the time to appreciate them. The Atacama Desert is one such landscape and traveling above it’s magical. Don’t miss this spectacular experience of living this delicate moment, when dawn unfolds its light over the desert landscape.
Flying over the highlands of Chile in a hot air balloon to discover the driest desert in the world. From the air, you can observe all the reliefs and appreciate the numerous volcanoes found in the area, at the foot of the Andean Altiplano, including Licancabur and Lascar.
Flying over the Falls
Iguazu Falls by helicopter
I offer you an unforgettable experience. A helicopter flight over one of the three most beautiful waterfalls in the world, the Iguazu Falls. The flight takes place on the Brazil side and two flights are possible, one flight of 11 minutes and another of 35 minutes.
You’ll be stunned by this great spectacle of nature! Overlooking the impressive “Gargantas del Diablo”. You’ll also be able to observe the greatness of the Iguazú and Paraná rivers. It’s a Borispatagonia exclusive.
Flying over the Peninsula Valdes
Peninsula Valdes seen from the sky
The flight over the Peninsula Valdes is possible with one of my contacts in Patagonia. “Popeye” takes us to fly over one of the most beautiful wild places in Patagonia.
It’s an incredible memory, especially during the period when the southern right whales are present. You’ll be treated to this spectacle of nature seen from the sky and will become aware of all the beauty and greatness of this natural site that’s the Peninsula Valdes.
Flying over the Andes Cordillera
Over the Andean lakes and volcanoes
On the program, the flight over Lake Nahuel Huapi to understand and discover this region of Argentina which is so famous for its beauty. The flight will take you to the Tronador volcano. It’s also possible to combine it into a longer flight to cumulate the flight over the two main volcanoes of the region, the Tronador and Lanin volcanoes. You’ll then have a splendid view of the entire Cordillera.
It’s also possible to fly over and cross the Cordillera de los Andes to reach the Puerto Montt airport in Chile, or to connect the Pacific and return to Bariloche. Several options are possible depending on the budget and flight time… Don’t hesitate to consult!
Flying over the glaciers of Patagonia
Glaciers and Fitz Roy seen from the sky
Unmissable flights to observe from the sky incredible sites, which are among the most beautiful in the world: the glaciers of Patagonia. From the sky you’ll realize the real size of these glaciers which are, for the largest, tens of kilometers long.
You fly over the Perito Moreno glacier with a flight of 1 hour in total. You’ll also be able to see the Upsala glacier, which is the largest in the Los Glaciares National Park, with a flight time of 1h30. Finally, for the more “fortunate”, I suggest you fly over these two glaciers with the flight over the famous Fitz Roy and the “Torre”, two emblematic mountains of our planet (Flight time 2 hours in total). Absolutely unforgettable!!!
Flying over the Iberá ponds
The Argentinian “Pantanal”
Departing from the Posadas or Puerto Iguazú aerodrome, I suggest you fly over a very surprising area that’s little known to tourists. Only surpassed in extension by the Brazilian Pantanal, the Iberá ponds form the second largest wetland on the South American continent.
The Ibera ponds are a complex hydrographic system, within which an extremely rich and diverse tropical ecosystem develops. Thanks to its geographical location and difficult access, the area has a rich and varied fauna. Flying over it’s possible but only by stopping for at least one night, in the middle of nowhere, in a very luxurious and pleasant estancia: the Estancia Rincón del Socorro.
Flying over the end of the world
Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel by helicopter
What could be more remarkable than flying over the famous Beagle Channel or “Onashaga Channel” (in the Yagán language: “channel of the onas”) and the end of the world??? You’ll have a great time and will have superb views of the Andes mountain range in the South of Argentine and Chilean Patagonia, the Beagle Channel, the Bay of Ushuaia in Argentina which, after Puerto Williams in Chile, is the southernmost city in the world.
From up there you can decide for yourself whether it’s the end of the world or the birth of the world…
